We are so proud to announce that we are a finalist in the Free From Eating out awards and the winners will be announced on Tuesday 18th November at the Food Matters Live show in London.
Stonecroft is one of four finalists in the B & B section and we have been specialising in catering for “special” diets for the past 18 years. Your host Julia is both vegetarian and a lactose intolerant coeliac so knows first hand just how difficult it can be to eat out.
“It is a lot easier now than it was when i was first diagnosed in 1996 and caterers are becoming more aware of the implications of cross contamination, but so many are still under the misapprehension that a little bit wont hurt… i know from experience that it will! I welcome the new laws coming in in the next few weeks, that mean all staff will have to know about (or have access to the information…) the ingredients and potential allergens in any dish being served. When we go away, being able to eat out without the worry of being ill is such an important part of the holiday”…..
Although not totally vegetarian (we still cater for the odd meat eater at breakfast with bacon and a choice of sausages from our local award winning farmer / butcher ), the menus at Stonecroft are designed to be healthy, using local organic or free range products where possible, and vegetarians, vegans and anyone on medical diets are welcomed. We have a special diets breakfast menu and offer packed lunches to walkers and from Easter afternoon tea is available in the garden. Although we do not offer Evening meals on a regular basis if you are on a vegetarian, vegan or medical diet, we can offer Dinner served by candlelight in our lovely dining room. Dinner must be pre booked as each meal is designed around you and your requirements.
If you are in London tomorrow, come and see us at the awards ceremony at Excel and if you fancy a break away from it all, where phone signals and internet are the last of your worries, where sheep graze the fields and where a warm welcome is guaranteed, then come to Stonecroft, right at the start of the Pennine Way in the heart of the glorious Peak District National Park.
