We were delighted to be shortlisted recently for the Eviivo Tastiest Breakfast Award 2017. Out of the shortlisted entrants three of us were selected to cook in front of three celebrity judges: Dan Lepard and Michel Roux jnr, and last years winner Gill Jones and one of the three was yours truly!
On the 11th October I had to be at the Tramshed Restaurant in London, bright and early and cook breakfast for the three judges… I have never been more terrified.. more because I havent cooked in an industrial kitchen for 30 years.. our guests breakfasts are cooked on our trusty Aga at Stonecroft! As we are a gluten free establishment we served our wonderful Artisan Organic seeded toast, topped with mushrooms cooked with garam masala and herbs, and savoury crunchies. All finished with a locally sourced poached egg, home made tomato sauce and vine tomatoes. The judges loved it.
We didnt win the overall award, but were pretty chuffed to be in the final three… and Mike from Bovey Cottage was a very deserving winner… and a smashing guy too..
