Events in and around Edale, places to visit and things to do in the area

There are a many diverse events taking place throughout the year in and around Edale and the Hope Valley and we will try and list them in advance when we can.

We have also taken some time to explore some favourite spots that we think you might like and added a short description and a few photos that might interest you.  We will be adding to these as and when we can, in the meantime please take a look at the “other events and information” links below.

For information visit the Peak District website:

Solomons Temple and Buxton Country Park

Solomons Temple is also known as Grinlow Tower.  It is a Victorian hill marker built in 1896 near the spa town of Buxton.  It is located at the highest point of Grin Low in Buxton Country Park and rewards you with fantastic views.  There is a picnic site and pathways leading to Grin Low woods…. a haven for birds, animals and plants.

Not far away is Pooles Cavern show cave with stalagmites and stalactites – well worth a tour which are available throughout the season and by arrangement in winter.

Well Dressings around the Peak District

Colour your world with the ancient art of Well Dressing, unique to the Peak District and Derbyshire.  Town and village communities come together to create living art installations from natural materials between May and September. Celebrations, games, carnivals and festivities are the order of the week, and properties are decorated with flags and bunting and wells are dressed around each village.

Well Dressings celebrate everything from biblical scenes to special anniversaries.  You can learn the secrets of everything from puddling to petalling at one ot the ‘Well in the Making’ events at various locations and dates.
