I have been a judge for a couple of years for the Free From Eating Out Awards but this year I was fortunate enough to be involved in the judging of the Free From Food Awards. The judging of the shortlisted products took place in London a few weeks ago and over the space of two weeks dozens of amazing foods (and beer) were tasted by a panel of experienced judges from the industry. It was a great experience and a learning one even for someone like me who has been diagnosed coeliac and wheat intolerant for over 20 years… I now know just which beers I cant have, and have also become addicted to a certain allergen free pasta (i ate an entire packet the other night… piggy me). It has been an interesting and educational experience and proves just how far catering for allergies has come (one of our judges has a son who is allergic to 28 different foods, so her judging had the added “Callum safe” criteria too).
Take a look at the shortlist… it proves interesting reading..
