Lots of great news from Stonecroft Country Guesthouse…

Lots of great things have been happening here at Stonecroft Country Guesthouse  in the last few weeks and we cant wait to share them with you.

Firstly, many of you know that a few months ago, we ceased serving Dinner as life was so hectic here caring for our poorly dad / father in law /  grandad who lives in the annexe at the back of Stonecroft…  hes 96 and has suffered 7 heart attacks since September 2015 and had quite a few other complications too.  Life was just too manic rushing backwards and forwards to Stockport hospital every day and serving dinners as well, so we had to slow things down a bit.  Thankfully Dad came home last week and between us as a family and with the help of some amazing carers we are now looking after him at home.  He is very frail, but keeping us entertained and is remarkably cheerful considering all he has gone through.

Secondly, now life is beginning to settle into a routine again, we are planning our Dinner menus once again…  watch this space for the latest news and availability.

Also, Some of you will be aware that this last week, I’ve not been answering the phone very much (apologies for that).  I’ve not been on holiday but have been away in London at a conference.  Food Matters Live is a massive conference and show at Excel and not only have I been attending to pick up lots of lovely ideas for Stonecroft but I was there on more official business.  Last year, I won the Guesthouse category of the Free From Eating Out Awards and I was very proud to be presented with my award at the Food Matters conference.  I didn’t enter this year, as I was honoured to be one of the judges.   For the past weeks I have  been involved in the various stages of judging Guesthouses, Cafes and even a Fish and Chip shop!  It involved a lot of work and some considerable juggling of everyday life and telling a few lies along the way…  but I had a ball… and put on a load of weight …  I made some new friends, found new places to eat and some super places to stay…  one in particular I am planning on visiting again very soon as a “normal” guest…

During the better weather, I’ve been outside playing with our latest toy…  We have a drone and following some intensive training I have been out practising, (i.m not very good yet ….  I might have been a professional photographer for 10 years but drone photography is very different)….but improving slowly and the picture below shows Stonecroft from above )  so look out for some great shots of the Edale valley taken from up high….

Lastly, but not by any means less important, we are planning great changes to what we offer at Stonecroft.  It is all very exciting and we are currently in the experimental and transition stages before we make any more announcements, but watch this space and our Facebook page for the latest news…
